Joinville
Joinville, 12 kilometres from the campsite, is a charming town where you can find everything you need during your stay at La Forge de Sainte Marie. The little cafés along the canal are perfect for an afternoon coffee or beer, and the pretty buildings from 500 years ago give Joinville its welcoming atmosphere.
Saint Dizier
In Saint-Dizier you will find a wide range of shops and cafés, as well as art and craft shops. Perfect for finding souvenirs for family and friends.
Chaumont
In Chaumont, an impressive viaduct welcomes you. Discover this beautiful historic city with its winding streets and majestic squares. The river Marne flows through the city, you can combine a shopping outing with a walk along the river.
Neufchâteau
Neufchâteau, a small town in the neighbouring département of Vosges, organises a music festival in summer. Listen to all kinds of live music in the charming streets and alleys and spend an unforgettable day.
Langres
In times of war, the fortified town of Langres was an important strategic point for the whole region. The town overlooks a vast panorama, which meant that soldiers could guard a large area. You can walk up to the highest point of the town, or take the funicular. Langres is also known for its artisan cheese.
Bayel
Bayel, one hour from the campsite, is famous for its crystal. Discover the secrets of hand-blown crystal during a guided tour of the workshops.
Troyes
Troyes is the historic capital of Champagne and has a renowned heritage: a historic medieval and Renaissance centre surrounded by modern architecture, with a magnificent cathedral in the heart of the city. All included in an area in the symbolic shape of a Champagne cork. On your way back to the campsite, stop at the McArthurGlen centre for great bargains on big brands!
Reims and Epernay
Reims and Epernay, linked by the picturesque ‘Route de Champagne’, are home to some of the most prestigious champagne houses in France such as Moët et Chandon. Visit both cities and admire the splendour of the cathedral in Reims, the city of the kings of France, followed by a guided tour of one of the many champagne cellars in Epernay.
